In just 8 km from Preveza there is Nikopolis, established after the momentous naval battle at Actium on 31 BC. The archaeological site is a lush green landscape; on the edge of the site stands the Archeological Museum of Nikopolis, which houses important finds and relics.

The Necromanteion of Acheron was the most ancient and renowned temple of necromancy in Greece and believed that it was on the gates to the underworld. The first reference is from Homer in his Odyssey.
